Lotta people been askin’ about the voice on The Information Man. It’s Mack Dennis.
Mack Dennis is a performance poet and storyteller born in New Orleans, raised by his grandparents, Clothilde and August Jasmin. He started out working in the cane fields of the Laura Plantation. He moved to New Orleans in 1960 where he lived with his mother, Cora Johnson. He experienced the Civil Rights movement firsthand in The Big Easy, joining up with the freedom marchers and becoming one of New Orleans’ first black bus drivers. Three years, a wife and three kids later he was a member of the Black Panthers who socialized in a shotgun house on Foy Street, which lead to the state penitentiary at Angola. Having driven a taxicab in San Francisco for the past 25 years, he’s been around the block a few times. If you wanna hear an incredible story, hit the man up for a show.
I’m honored and blessed to have his presence in Run On Anything.
Talk to me, Mack.
Thank you for the indigo you gave us.
