“We’re gonna write like a knife in a kite fight, get punched in the blood, spit out the glitter, and stand back up. —Buddy Wakefield
For all creatives. All levels welcome.
Previous month-long courses with Buddy have built on each other from one week to the next. For the May/June sessions, each week is a new discourse and experience in creativity, writing, and language that isn’t scared to hurl itself off the high dive. Or land upright. The common thread throughout all four weeks is that of a higher power (yours), and doing right by that power with every risk.
WEEK 1 – How to Say Hello in Cellular
While trying to finish a script once, a writing partner said to me, “Ya know, we don’t have to write something transcendent every single time.” I became very confused, “… Yes we do.” This week identifies and prioritizes your highest ideals in everything you create.
WEEK 2 – That’s Enough of That
No but seriously, stop being an asshole. This week we’ll do anything but pretend you’re not here. You are here. Everyone can see it. There’s no way around your presence, or what you’ve lived through to be worthy of it. Tonight we leave behind the case you’ve built in favor a war that’s already over.
WEEK 3 – Past, Perfect, Tense
Underestimating and overestimating are just different ways of saying past and future.
Tonight we tell timelessness through speculative writing, and push the limits on how you see yourself creatively or otherwise.
WEEK 4 – Now the Future Swung
Everything you got. This week you’ll connect with aliens, and the people who can handle the creative risks you take…
* This may not be the right course for those who actively disbelieve that something greater than themselves is at play in this life.

You don’t have to be brilliant every time you show up.
You just have to show up. – Buddy Wakefield
Now the Future Swung includes:
Weekly 90-minute live creativity and writing sessions, shares, and discourses lead by Buddy.
An opportunity for direct feedback on your writing and – in some cases – presentation.

Private discussion group for questions, sharing, resources, and feedback with fellow participants.
What you can expect:
Expect to write like a fucking monster truck made outta books for people who still give a shit.
Expect to notice architecture in the absurd.
- Expect to be witnessed.
Expect to walk away a more dangerous writer.
Expect to develop a sharper awareness of what’s at-hand and what’s ahead for you and your work.
Expect to write, to listen, to participate, to support, and to not be brilliant.
